Westminster Towers
Assisted Living
Rock Hill, South Carolina

Westminster Towers in Rock Hill, South Carolina recently completed a renovation of their first floor Assisted Living community. The art we created for this space touches on the local area of Rock Hill that includes Winthrop University, Glencarin Garden, and the Landsford Canal State Park.

The art will guide residents through the history of the area being a textile mill town to the natural beauty of the Landsford Canal where in the spring the Spider lilies grow in the river bed. The growth of Winthrop from a women's college to a well attended co-ed University and how the historic buildings add to the character of the space creating a localized home for the residents to connect with.

The art is all printed with UV cured inks on our white poly-vinyl and gallery-wrapped canvas substrates.

"The art on this project was super important! We knew we had to include pieces that not only looked beautiful, but also served a purpose. Everything in this facility was approved by a Montessori for Dementia and Aging expert – Jennifer Brush. Penny and Pam McPeak from Penny & Lucy Lou Art were able to take custom shots for us and they really

understood the directives of the Montessori vision and made it a reality in the artwork. Penny's team made the artwork portion of the project run so smoothly, and I knew I didn’t have to worry about anything art related! With their help we were able to select art pieces that not only fit with our aesthetic, but were also easy for residents to recognize, engage with, and use as wayfinding tools to promote independence."

Southminster
Charlotte, NC

Kara Grossman, interior designer at GMK Associates, while designing the first floor elevator lobby, was in need of some creative solutions for her project at Southminster of Charlotte, NC.
Kara shared with us, "We recognized that we didn’t just want a regular piece of art put something special and something large. This space is the first thing a resident will see going and leaving their apartment. We loved the bedrock collection that Penny sent." Read more of Kara's experience with us on our blog!

Still Hopes
West Columbia, SC

Still Hopes Greenway Supportive Living is the most recent addition to the Still Hopes Facility in West Columbia. The Peacock feathers were a creation specific to this project for GMK Associates' Marta Lockwood. She later shared with me that, "Peacocks actually once roamed the grounds of Still Hopes. It’s nice to tie in the history of the community into the design. It’s something that the residents can connect with and makes the community unique. As you walk through, you may notice subtle nods to peacocks in other artwork, accessories, and finishes."
