Senior Living

Evergreen House
The Village at Summerville
Summerville, South Carolina

"The art on this project was super important! We knew we had to include pieces that not only looked beautiful, but also served a purpose. Everything in this facility was approved by a Montessori for Dementia and Aging expert – Jennifer Brush. Penny and Pam McPeak from Penny & Lucy Lou Art were able to take custom shots for us and they really

understood the directives of the Montessori vision and made it a reality in the artwork. Penny's team made the artwork portion of the project run so smoothly, and I knew I didn’t have to worry about anything art related! With their help we were able to select art pieces that not only fit with our aesthetic, but were also easy for residents to recognize, engage with, and use as wayfinding tools to promote independence."

Kara Grossman, interior designer at GMK Associates, while designing the first floor elevator lobby, was in need of some creative solutions for her project at Southminster of Charlotte, NC.
Kara shared with us, "We recognized that we didn’t just want a regular piece of art put something special and something large. This space is the first thing a resident will see going and leaving their apartment. We loved the bedrock collection that Penny sent." Read more of Kara's experience with us on our blog!

Still Hopes

West Columbia, SC

Still Hopes Greenway Supportive Living is the most recent addition to the Still Hopes Facility in West Columbia. The Peacock feathers were a creation specific to this project for GMK Associates' Marta Lockwood. She later shared with me that, "Peacocks actually once roamed the grounds of Still Hopes. It’s nice to tie in the history of the community into the design. It’s something that the residents can connect with and makes the community unique. As you walk through, you may notice subtle nods to peacocks in other artwork, accessories, and finishes."

Spring Arbor of Frederick

Frederick, MD

Jenn Farese of J. Davis was in need of not only art but art acoustical panels. In previous projects similar to this one, her client said that the acoustics can sometimes be a bit off for their residents. This allows us to create art that has a dual purpose: art acoustical panels that are made with a full fiberglass core. The sound is able to travel through the printed acoustical fabric and be absorbed into the fiberglass. The images were created specific for the property through a custom photo shoot.
"When I visited downtown Frederick I loved the classic brick elements that I saw everywhere & decided to bring a bit of downtown Frederick, MD into the interiors of the Spring Arbor senior living community. The goal was to create a comfortable, updated traditional interior with ties to the classic elements seen throughout the downtown area."

Lifespire of Virginia

Culpeper, Newport News, Daleville and Richmond, VA

Clea Barry of GMK Associates came to us with an idea for a custom designed time line wall that speaks direct to the Senior Living community at LifeSpire. The photos are all of the residents and the five plaques above are of the mission behind the story of the LifeSpire communities.
